New roles with Scottish Labour for Rhoda Grant and David Stewart

TWO LABOUR MSP’s with constituency responsibilities in Moray have been given new jobs in the Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard’s first front bench team.

Rhoda Grant MSP was Rural Economy and Connectivity spokesperson – now she has moved to Business Manager and Women and Equalities spokesperson.

David Stewart MSP was Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform spokesperson has moved to Shadow Minister for Health.

Speaking last night Rhoda Grant said “I am delighted to be part of Richard Leonard’s front bench team and to take on these hugely important roles.

“I hope to play an integral part in promoting Labour’s vision and also to holding the Scottish Government to account especially in relation to some of the extra powers that have been devolved to them.

“I intend to do my bit in tackling all forms of discrimination and the ways they interact. Equality is equality, you can’t pick and choose. I have always sought to fight the corner of those who feel voiceless in our communities and this role will allow me to continue to do so.

On his new role, David Stewart said “I am delighted to work alongside my colleague Anas Sarwar in the Shadow Health Team.

“Health is a crucial portfolio and as the Chair of the cross party group on diabetes and the Scottish Diabetic champion I am delighted to be offered this new challenge.”
