MISLEADING ROAD SIGNS on the A96 at Forres has resulted in a number of complaints from local residents – and an intervention by Douglas Ross MP.

The Moray MP, whose office is based in the Moray town, is calling for action over the signage after learning from a number of motorists who have been confused by the lack of proper signage.

Concerns surround the new junction from the A96 at Waterford – with the old signs for Waterford having the effect of directing drivers into the car park for the new Forres Railway Station.

Mr Ross explained: “I’ve been contacted by constituents who are very concerned that since the new railway station was built, and a new road junction put in place to access Waterford, the old road signs are causing confusion to motorists.

“Drivers approaching from the east on their way to the waste disposal facility at Waterford or businesses nearby such as Benromach are directed into the car park of the railway station. At the actual junction there are still no road signs in either direction which is very unhelpful.”

The MP added: “This is causing considerable confusion and I know that some businesses are reporting that customers are having real difficulty finding them.

“This needs to be corrected sooner rather than later and I am pursuing the relevant agencies to get something done about it as soon as possible.”
