PARENTS OF CHILDREN who will be starting primary school in August can register their child online for the first time.

Eligible children will be five years old on or before August 14, or will have their fifth birthday between August 14 and February 28, 2019.

Registration for Primary 1 pupils is to take place from Monday, January 15 until Friday, January 19 – and during that period online registrations and placing requests will be available throughout the day and night.

A Council statement today said that online registration should not take longer than half an hour, adding that the system will begin with a reminder for parents or guardians of the documents they will need ready to upload.

Those who prefer to complete a paper copy can do so at the child’s catchment school during registration week. The child’s birth certificate and proof of address will be required at the time of registration. Advice on placing requests will also be available.

Those looking to enrol at a Moray Council Roman Catholic school will also be required to provide the child’s Roman Catholic Baptismal certificate.

More information is available online at www.moray.gov.uk/registration, including catchment area maps, placing requests and deferred entry.
