Elgin early morning blaze prompts appeal from Police

Fire in Elgin in the early hours of this morning.

POLICE IN ELGIN have issued an appeal for information following a fire at commercial premises in the Moray town in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 2.55am and responded to the blaze at the Chanonry Industrial Estate.

As a result of the fire a tractor and two lorries were damaged – however, nobody was injured.

Investigating officer is Krystle Ross, who said: “Enquiries into the fire are at an early stage and we are working closely with colleagues with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to ascertain the cause.

“If anyone such as taxi or delivery drivers saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area in the early hours I would ask them to get in touch with officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0237 of 10 January. Information can also be given anonymously by calling the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
