FORMER COUNCIL OFFICES in a prominent position in Keith have been placed on the open market by Moray Council.

The Keith Institute was abandoned with only basic maintenance being undertaken from May 2016 after having lain unused for three years, having no strategic operational use by the local authority and there being no community interest in taking over the building.

Now a buyer is being sought for the property, which amounts to some 611 square metres, currently laid out as offices and storage on ground and first floors with a hall located at the rear of ground floor. A car parking area, located at the rear of the property, is accessed from Institute Lane West.

Planners have indicated that, providing the ground floor remains primarily for visiting members of the public, the upper floors have the potential to be used as residential, commercial, office or entertainment developments. Change of use, however, would require planning and building control consent.
