SCOTTISH SECRETARY DAVID MUNDELL is set to visit Moray to hear for himself plans being put in place for Moray’s Regional Growth Deal.

Mr Mundell responded positively to a question in the House of Commons on Wednesday that included an invitation from Douglas Ross MP that he visit Moray to meet those involved in the bid for a regional growth deal from the UK and Scottish Governments.

After the Westminster exchange Mr Ross said: “The Moray Growth Deal is a priority for me and I am taking every opportunity to promote it and ensure that all the important decision-makers are on board.

“The UK Government has already indicated support for the deal when Scotland Office minister Lord Duncan visited last year. However, getting the Secretary of State here to learn first-hand why it is so important is a significant development.

“As soon as a date is confirmed for the visit I will be contacting key players from the business community, Moray Council and other public agencies to ensure that the case for the growth deal is put across as strongly and effectively as possible.

“It is important that we generate momentum and I am delighted that the Secretary of State’s visit provides us with an opportunity to get things moving in the right direction.”
