HUGE CHANGES IN LEGISLATION on data protection and cyber security that prompted an information event last year has led to a second being held in Moray.
From May this year important changes take place that could impact on many local businesses. These were highlighted by Moray Chamber of Commerce who partnered MJD Systems and Ledingham Chalmers in providing information on why it was important to be aware of these changes.
Now the issues raised as a result has led to a second to be held in Moray next month, to which businesses are being invited to attend.
A spokeswoman said: “These changes will have great impact on businesses and their day to day functions, including their levels of cyber security. Without a structured plan moving forward, businesses could get caught out by the new legislation and fined large sums of money.
“The collaboration of three of Moray Chambers Members – MJD Systems, Ledingham Chalmers and Clark Thomson Insurance Brokers will offer expertise, information and an introduction to the services that they offer to the local business community surrounding GDPR and Cyber Security.
“The aim of the event is to equip Moray with the tools they need to be ready for GDPR in May this year.”
The business breakfast will be held at the Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite – see THIS LINK for details.
The spokeswoman added: “This is the first in a series of Business Breakfasts that will run throughout the year.
“Our website has all the dates for your diary for 2018. Moray Chamber would be delighted to welcome businesses to host their Business Breakfasts in the same way that MJD, Ledingham Chalmers and Clark Thomson are in February.
“If you have a topic that you would like to present to the local business community then please get in contact with Georgia at Moray Chamber to discuss further by Email to gdunk@moraychamber.co.uk or by calling 01343 543344.
