The Moray Artists Bursary, a brand-new fund established by We Make Moray (The Moray Place Partnership), is now open for applications from local artists.

£15,000 in total is available as small grants to support individuals working across the arts, screen and creative industries in Moray.

Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply for a bursary of between £500 and £1500 before midnight Sunday 19 August to help towards activities such as researching, creating and presenting new work or advancing skills, technical ability and ideas.

It is hoped that the Moray Artists Bursary will enable artists to develop new work, learn new skills, undertake mentoring, travel within or outside of the UK to research, attend conferences, build networks or collaboration, or a combination of these things.

This is the first year the fund has been available and will be facilitated by We Make Moray (The Moray Place Partnership), an arts and culture development programme funded by Creative Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in collaboration with local partners.

Sandra Morrison, Place Partnership Co-ordinator said, “We are delighted to have established the Moray Artists Bursary. It’s vital for the work of any profession to keep developing their practice and to keep up with new technologies or ways of working, it’s no different for those working in the arts and culture sector.  We hope that the fund will help established and emerging artists in Moray gain access to what they need so they remain inspired to create new and relevant work here in Moray.  This is the first year we have run the Moray Artists Bursary and I look forward to working alongside Moray’s artists to develop their visions for the future.”

Gary Cameron, Head of Place, Partnerships and Communities, Creative Scotland said: “We are very pleased to be supporting this opportunity for artists living or working in Moray as part of our Place Partnership Programme. We recognise the creative talent and ambition that exists across the region and believe the Moray Artists Bursary is a great way to nurture this further.”

Application Forms and further guidance can be obtained by visiting www.tsimoray.org.uk/moray-place-partnership, emailing sandra@tsimoray.org.uk or telephone 01343 205274.

The fund is open to applicants from today and will close midnight on 19th August 2018.
