Moray LEADER have warned that a looming Brexit deadline means that potential applicants should ‘get their skates on’ if they want to apply for a share of the remaining budget.
All LEADER funding has to be committed to projects before the Brexit deadline of 29 March 2019, which means that the deadline for new applications is January 2019 at the latest.
Under Moray LEADER’s newly revised Local Development Strategy, applications will be considered for projects covering a wide range of objectives, including employability, food supply, access to services, energy efficiency, renewable energy and small business support.
Moray LEADER Programme Manager Norman MacAskill said:
“The Moray LEADER Programme will run until the end of 2020 but, because of Brexit, all our budget has to be earmarked for projects by 31 March 2019. That means that we won’t be able to accept any applications after January next year – just six months away.
“More than half our budget has already been committed and we know there are some excellent new projects in the pipeline. But we need anyone who has ideas for projects that could be funded by LEADER to get their skates on, get in touch with us and start working up an application.
“Our newly revised Local Development Strategy identifies the kind of projects that we are looking for, covering a wide range of activities and initiatives.
“In particular, we would welcome expressions of interest and applications from organisations, businesses and individuals with ideas that relate to employability, food supply, access to services, energy efficiency, renewable energy and small business support.
“It can take two or three months to develop a successful LEADER application, so time is very short to get started.
“You can find more information on our website (www.morayleader.org.uk), which will also give you details of how to get in touch with the friendly and informative Moray LEADER Team.”
