Elgin Food Festival is set to return in August

The Elgin BID Food and Drink Festival is set to make a rousing return to Elgin City Centre on Saturday 18th August.

The annual event kicks off at 10am when the market opens with an array of stalls featuring produce from across the region. Festival goers can also enjoy a procession of 65 vehicles taking part in the Cannonbawz Run exhibited at the Lossie Wynd Car Park ahead of a thrilling journey across the North Coast 500, raising money for the Air Ambulance and the Marfan Association.

Compered by North Highland Radio’s James Martin; the Plainstones plays host to Chef Demonstrations from 11am, with local Chef John McCruden returning with his unique musical culinary display, joined by the Executive Chef team from Macdonald Pittodrie House cooking up a storm throughout the day.

There are dozens of food, drink and craft exhibitors, plus a dedicated “Tasty Tipple” area where you can sample the newest refreshments from across the region. You can also decorate your own biscuits with the Elgin Youth Café in the St Giles Shopping Centre.

Children’s entertainment features high on the day’s activities with the Commerce Street Kids Fun Zone where you can meet Bubbles the Clown; the Scottish Rural College will be there with their display tractor and the ever favourite “Milking Coo”; along with the Spey Bay Dolphin Centre and the MFR Street Team. There will also be a circus workshop on the Plainstones, live music, and craft and art demonstrations.

Gill Neil – Elgin BID Chief Executive stated “This is our 8th year running the Food and Drink Festival and this year looks set to be even bigger and better than before. This event is very family friendly and our “Lucky Cards” competition is open on the day with a range of prizes on offer including a £50 Elgin Gift Card. We are delighted that the Cannonbawz Run team will be starting the day of in spectacular style and we may have a surprise or two lined up on the day.
