Young readers will be celebrating World Book Day at Elgin and Forres libraries today, Thursday 7 March.

The theme this year is ‘share a story’, with storytelling events held during the course of the day.

In Elgin, the topic for stories is ‘Enter into Outer Space’, with exciting tales of adventure and discovery. Staff members dressed up as aliens and other fantastic creatures will help make the day one to remember.

The day will start at 10am with a Bookbug session for babies and toddlers, followed by story time suitable for under 5s at 11am. During the morning, pupils from the East End Primary 7 class will beam in to share their stories with Curious Minds Nursery when they will read their selected books to the pre-school nursery class.

In the evening a Teddy Bears’ Sleepover will take place from 5.30–6.15 pm, with registration from 5 pm. This event is suitable for children aged 3 years and over. Children are encouraged to bring their favourite teddy or cuddly toy along and enjoy songs, rhymes and stories which are out of this world!

There is the option of leaving your bear overnight and check out the security camera photographs the day after on the library Facebook page.
