Residents and workplaces in Moray are being encouraged to dust off their bikes and get out in the fresh air during September to take part in Love to Ride’s annual competition, Cycle September.

Love to Ride is teaming up with Moray Council to celebrate cycling and are encouraging workplaces to take part in the free month-long competition, to see which workplace can get the most people out on their bikes.

Riders only have to cycle for 10 minutes anywhere and at any time during September in order to be in with a chance of winning an amazing prize, including a £3,000 bespoke Ribble bike package. Local prizes include a voucher for a wildlife boat trip, brewery tour, restaurant voucher and more.

Council Leader, Graham Leadbitter, is encouraging folk to take part: “Over the years I have really enjoyed cycling both for leisure and commuting. In my first full-time job over 20 years ago I regularly cycled 10 miles to work and back and felt all the better for it, as well as saving a fortune in transport costs!

“While not remotely as fit as I was then I still enjoy getting out on my bike when I can and it’s still a very enjoyable mode of transport and a great leisure pursuit.”

Cycle September is free and is designed to be a fun way of celebrating cycling, including the benefits to health and well-being, the environment, and to celebrate the social side of being out on a bike.
