Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead has launched a search for a ‘local hero’ in Moray who has made a positive difference to the lives of others.
From today (11 July), Mr Lochhead is looking to ensure one of his Moray constituents receives recognition for the important work they do to help others in their local community as a Local Hero.
The selected ‘hero’ will join MSPs and other Local Heroes from across Scotland, at a special commemorative event to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament. The event is due to take place later this year on a date to be confirmed.
The event will mark 25 years since the Scottish Parliament was officially opened. It will mark the achievements of the Parliament over the last 25 years as well as being a celebration of Scottish culture.
Launching the search a spokesperson for Richard Lochhead MSP said: “There are so many people in Moray who give their time and energy selflessly to our local communities and to make a positive contribution to the lives of others – often without recognition.
“Together with fellow MSPs, we want to celebrate the achievements of our Local Heroes across every constituency and region in Scotland to mark the significant milestone of the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
“Our office is really looking forward to receiving nominations for our Local Hero in Moray, perhaps from their friends, family or work colleagues, maybe even from potential Local Heroes themselves. If you’ve got a good suggestion, please get in touch.
“In this 25th anniversary year, it is right that, the people of Scotland are placed at the heart of our events.”
