A appeal has gone out to Moray residents from the community company behind the regeneration of the landmark Covesea Lighthouse near Lossiemouth.
The Lighthouse was purchased on behalf of the community after serving sailors for 166 years – now it is under the control of the Covesea Lighthouse Community Company (CLCC) who are currently developing the site as a future tourism centre.
The CLCC recently appointed a development manager, Jenny Ebdy, who will assist in ensuring the site is open to the public for the first time in time for the forthcoming summer season.
However, Ms Ebdy admitted that there was very little left in the building of the original fixtures and fittings – so she is now asking people to donate any memorabilia they might have to form part of the exhibition in the lighthouse.
She said: “We are looking for donations or loans of photographs or mementos that could form part of the display.
“We are also lookikng for photos or mementos associated with the RAF or Royal Navy presence at Lossiemouth.”
The group is planning a public event at the Lossiemouth Town Hall on Saturday, March 15 from 11am to 3pm when soup and cake will be provided.
Anyone who may have memorabilia they are willing to offer to CLCC is being asked to contact Ms Edby on 01343 810664.
