Elgin singer/songwriter Lilian MacDonald has expressed her delight at reaching the UK Top 40 by gifting a second track to her growing army of fans.
Lilian hit the headlines when she wrote and recorded ‘Never be Alone’ as a tribute to her cancer-suffering boyfriend. The song touched people throughout Moray – and reached out far enough to peak at 33 in the ITunes chart when it was officially released on Monday.
The former Elgin Academy pupil released a second track and video yesterday, saying: “I just wanted to thank everyone for support me and buying ‘Never be Alone’.
”Just hours after the official release it charted at No.30 in the official iTunes chart, that was insane! All proceeds from the single will be going to leukaemia research. It would be great if people who have not already bought the single could do so but most of all if they just keep talking about it on Facebook and Twitter and let all their friends know.
”As a thank you for everyone supporting me, I’ve released a video of a song I recorded over a year ago, it is called ‘Invincible’ and is a completely different style to ‘Never be Alone’, we were just having a bit of fun – I hope everyone enjoys it and thank you all again for your support.”
Lilian hit the headlines last month when insideMoray told her story – that subsequently spread rapidly through social media site Facebook where it went viral with a reach of over 200,000 people.
