Motorcyclist dies after accident behind the fence at RAF base

A 49-year-old has died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident within the base at RAF Lossiemouth.

Police were informed of the accident at around 9.15pm on Tuesday evening – no other vehicle was involved.

An investigation has been launched with Police Scotland officers working alongside the Royal Air Force Police. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

It is understood that the man was employed by the RAF but was off duty at the time of the accident.

Police have said that the identity of the man involved will not be revealed until his next of kin has been informed.
