Animal charity places call for help at Moray shop

A Moray charity is appealing for volunteers to come forward and assist in running their local shop.

The PDSA shop is currently looking to recruit new members to help in the running of the busy shop on the High Street in Elgin.

PDSA is one of the best known animal charities in the UK, raising funds to pay for treatment of sick pets whose owners cannot afford high vet bills.

With a UK pet population of around 8.5million cats and the same number of dogs around half the homes in the country have a pet.

Allyson Whitton is the manager of the PDSA shop at 102 High Street in Elgin. She said: “A volunteer in our store will get to meet new people and add some valuable skills and experiences to their CV.

“They will also be helping to raise much-needed funds for local pets in need. We are looking for people who are passionate about pets and can lend a hand even if it is for just a few hours each week.”

Anyone interested can find out more about the charity by calling the National Volunteering Centre on 0800 854194 or by visiting http://www.pdsa.org.uk/volunteering.

Allyson can also be contacted directly at the Elgin PDSA shop by calling 01343 548183.
