Man dies after falling through distillery warehouse roof

Police have begun a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive after a man died when he fell through the roof of a Speyside distillery.

The as yet unnamed man was working at the Parkmore Distillery in Dufftown when it is understood to have fallen through a warehouse roof.

Police were called to the site at around 11.40am on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Officers were made aware of the death of a male at around 11.40am yesterday.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and inquiries are ongoing to find out the full set of circumstances surrounding the death.”

First built in 1894 whisky production ceased at the distillery in 1931 because of problems with its water source. Maltings at the site continued to be in use until the 1960’s but only the Warehouses are currently in use.
