Blocked culvert halts rush-hour trains at Keith

Scotrail – flooding near Keith

Rail passengers in Moray suffered further travel delays yesterday when flooding brought a halt to services between Aberdeen and Inverness.

Passengers were caught up in delays when the line was flooded because of a blocked culvert just outside Keith.

The problem came to light at around 10am and Network Rail engineers where on site 45 minutes later to clear the drain water blockage from the track.

A Network Rail spokesman confirmed that the delays were caused by a blocked culvert and confirmed that services returned to normal at around noon.

Passengers on the 9am service from Inverness to Aberdeen suffered delays while passengers on an earlier train from Aberdeen had to board Taxi’s to continue their journey to Inverurie when their services was halted at Dyce.

A First Scotrail spokesman apologised to passengers for any inconvenience.
