Milne’s High boys celebrate stunning £9k charity hike

Gavin and James raised £9000

Two Milne’s High pupils are celebrating after a stunning bid to raise £1000 for two major charities has led to their raising nine-times that target.

Mosstodloch 12-year-old Gavin Mackay was joined by his 13-year-old friend James Leslie on an 82-mile trek along the East Highland Way.

Their fundraising bid was sparked by Gavin being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease three years ago – and this summer the pair set off on their trek to raise cash for Crohn’s and Colitis UK as well as the Archie Foundation.

When they completed the trek in July Gavin’s father Stewart praised the help his son and friend had received from local people: “The boys were brilliant and never once wavered – and the support he has had from people and businesses in Mosstodloch, Fochabers and across Moray has been fantastic.”

Now that support has culminated in a stunning £9000 having been raised by the pair for their chosen charities.
