Landmark Moray hotel owners move to reassure customers

A landmark Moray hotel and restaurant has taken steps to reassure customers that it is business as usual amid insolvency rumours.

Newspaper reports in October highlighted problems being faced by the Mill House Hotel at Tynet near Buckie.

At that time according to the report an interim liquidator, Alexander Fraser of FRP Advisory in Aberdeen had been appointed and that the premises was to be the subject of a liquidators meeting at the start of November.

However, the Hotel has continued in operation since the business was taken over by new owners in September – and they moved to reassure customers that the Hotel was continuing to trade well under the new ownership.

In a statement on their Facebook page on Sunday afternoon the owners said: “It has been brought to our attention that Facebook followers are being shown the Press and Journal story about the Mill House Hotel becoming insolvent.

“Here is what happened. In August of this year Moray Hotels, the old owners, went into liquidation and the Mill House Hotel was taken over by Tynet Mill Ltd.

“The hotel has been running since September 1 as Tynet Mill Ltd and has been trading well under the guidance of the new owner.”

The owners urged anyone who had questions over the status of the business to contact them at the Hotel or by email, adding: “This will be the Mills first Christmas since it was taken over.

“Let’s make it great – if you are a regular we will see you soon, if not then pop along and let’s party! 2015 is looking up with cabaret nights starting at the end of January and then regularly throughout the year.”

In a further statement last night more detail was revealed on who was behind Tynet Mill Ltd., a statement saying: “Mr David Guidi is now the outright owner of The Mill House Hotel and has done so since September 2014.

“Since he has taken over there have been a few changes to the way things are run, and we hope that these are changes for the better. David has worked hard to run The 1629 Restaurant in Lossiemouth, and also La Caverna.”

The statement went on to confirm that Mr Guidi had added another local business to his portfolio: “Today I can announce that David has taken over the Lossie Inn in Lossiemouth and will be looking to improve and open this as well in the coming year.

“Mr Guidi has a great reputation for offering great food and service for many years now, and hopes that the people starting rumours that have been going around about the liquidation of The Mill House Hotel can see that these are old newspaper stories that are not relivent to the current management.”
