Freezing temperatures with sleet or snow could be a major issue for bargain-seekers heading for stores in Moray today.
With temperatures barely rising above freezing this morning football is also set to be hit with several Highland League games already postponed and others likely to follow.
Police are warning motorists to take be on the lookout for icy patches on roads throughout the Grampian region.
A Met Office spokesman said: “It will be rather cloudy this morning with sleet or snow showers, perhaps heavy across the north.
“It will become drier and brighter by early afternoon with some sunshine, but there will still be a few wintry showers across Moray and northern Aberdeenshire.
“Temperatures in Moray will not reach any higher than +2 throughout Saturday and will fall again to below freezing in many places overnight.”
Skiers will, however, be delighted to note that the main runs in Glencoe, Cairngorm and Nevis are all open with thousands already flocking to slopes on Boxing Day.
