Early morning call for Keith residents as Sea King conducts rescue

Sea King was active over Keith in early hours of Sunday

There was early morning drama in Keith today when an RAF Search and Rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth airlifted a casualty from a former quarry.

Residents were roused around 6am as the helicopter flew low over the town with their searchlight switched on, concentrating their search along the Keith to Dufftown rail line and the area of the old quarry.

Earlier the helicopter had been flying over other areas of the town on what appeared to be a search pattern.

Eye witnesses have told insideMoray that the Sea King crew appeared to locate someone in the area of the quarry and airlifted them before heading in the direction of Aberdeen.
