It is said that you can buy just about anything from your local Co-Operative store – although there were not many takers in Lossiemouth on Friday when a leg-waxing service was on offer!

It was, however, all in a very good cause as local staff lined up to volunteer for the painful process to help raise much needed funding for Diabetes UK.

Heading up the effort was Kimberley Pickersgill who revealed that the leg-waxing efforts had managed to raise at least £800 with more to follow from sympathetic shoppers.

Kimberley said: “It is very important that we do all we can to raise funds for Diabetes research – if we can raise enough money then there will be children out there who will be able to have insulin pumps that would make their lives very much easier.

“We have a very active group for Diabetes UK here in Moray and of course we are always on the lookout for move volunteers to help our fundraising efforts.

“I’m delighted to say that today we are celebrating having already raised £800 and I’m particularly grateful to Co-Operative staff in Lossiemouth who have agreed to go through the painful waxing process for such a great cause.”
