Popular Forres café set to return with new purpose

An organisation that supports people with physical, hidden or learning disabilities is now well advanced in their preparations to reopen a popular Moray café.

Non-profit organisation Ray’s Opportunities were successful in obtaining the lease on the café at the Forres House Community Centre and are currently busy refurbishing the unit in time for a Spring opening.

The café was one of several that had been operated by Moray Council but were put out for private lease last year. This month the cafe at the Elgin Library was taken on by Drumnadorochit firm Cobbs.

Now Ray’s Opportunities say they are well advanced in preparations for opening the Forres outlet, a statement on their Facebook page saying: “We will reopen the café in Forres House Community Centre, re-establishing it as a vibrant eatery and meeting place, with good food, tea/coffee and chatter!

“We will also use the facilities to provide on-the-job training for people with disabilities and additional support needs.

“The support we have received so far has been overwhelming and we look forward to welcoming all to the Community Café soon!”

Moray Council have leased the Café for an initial period of two years.
