With 100 Moray charities and community groups set to benefit the stage is set for the 2015 Marafun being held in Elgin this summer.
Groups set to benefit represent a wide range of community organisation in the health, caring, sport, music and youth areas who will all share equally in funds raised from the Elgin Rotary event which is back once again by Diageo.
Already £650,000 has gone to local causes since the first Marafun event in 1991 – now organisers are urging groups to make sure they enter teams in plenty of time with a limit of 125 having been set.
A spokesman said: “The main event is the Adult Street Relay for teams of five, of all abilities, with each team member running 5.2 miles around Elgin Town Centre.
“There are a number of team categories for men, ladies, mixed, fun runners, services and sports clubs. We will also be looking out for the best fancy dress team overall!
“There is a primary school run with the children running one lap of the relay course ahead of the main race.”
As well as the Marafun itself there will be a displays, stalls and entertainment around the town centre in Elgin on Sunday, June 7.
The spokesman added: “2015 promises to be another great Marafun and fun community event, and we need your help. People can support us to make it another great success by:
• Entering a team and get others to sponsor you
• Coming along on the day to support the event and cheer on your or other teams while enjoying a memorable day out with family and friends
“The emphasis is on community fun that helps 100 local charitable/community causes continue their good work,
