AN AUSTRALIAN TRUMPETER who has performed throughout the world will join a Moray brass band on the stage in Elgin this weekend.

Internationally renowned musician Greg Spence will take to the stage alongside the young musicians of Moray Concert Brass on Saturday at St Giles Church.

Greg has been the lead trumpet for Australia’s hit TV show Dancing With The Stars for the last 12 seasons and has played with some of the greats of the entertainment industry. Soon after graduation, he toured Australia with the iconic American comic Jerry Lewis and played with the legendry Shirley Bassey at the Melbourne Concert Hall.

He has since performed with numerous international stars including Herbie Hancock and Olivia Newton John.

Greg said: “This is my first trip to the land of his ancestors and I feel sure they would be very proud to know I have continued the wind blowing tradition.”

Musical director at Moray Concert Brass, Glen Moray, was responsible for persuading Greg to make the trip to Scotland. He said: “We have been very fortunate that Greg has been able to fit us into his very hectic schedule.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to see an outstanding musician in Elgin for a fraction of the cost of a concert in Aberdeen or Glasgow and without the hassle of having to travel.

“Not only does this concert give local people the opportunity to hear world-class music on their doorstep, but it also provides our up and coming musicians with the opportunity to work and play with someone considered to be one of the best brass teachers around.”

The Moray audience will be treated to classics like Sugar Blues and Birdland and family favorites Blame it on the Boogie and Let it go from the Disney film Frozen

The Concert will be at St Giles Church, Elgin on Saturday 23rd May at 7:30pm (Doors Open 7pm) with tickets just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
