A MORAY CHOIR has launched a search for two key members of their group as they prepare for concerts throughout the region.
The Lantern Singers are a ten-member chamber choir singing a range of music that they loosely describe as “English cathedral style”.
Formed in 2013, the Choir has performed at venues throughout Moray with their music director, Lisa Kerr, saying: “We sing quite a bit of Byrd, Purcell and such likes – but also more modern works including Vaughan Williams, Tavener and even the odd spiritual.”
For future dates, however, the choir need to add to their number in the form of a soprano and a bass singer, who would be expected to join the choir at rehearsals on most Monday evenings during term time in Elgin.
Lisa said: “We enjoy a sociable time with tea and cake as well as a couple of hours of good singing. Anyone joining us would need to be a good sight singer and confident singing one-to-a-part when necessary – although there is always enough time to learn the notes for trickier sections.
“We also need an accompanist who is interesting in playing for rehearsals as well as performing with us in our concerts – which usually take place in early June and in the week before Christmas. A fee could be available for an accompanist.”
Anyone who is interested is being asked to contact Lisa on 07768 986894 or by email to lisa@lisakerr.org.
