THE CRACKDOWN ON Drug dealers in Moray has continued with a series of coordinated raids in Forres, Elgin and Keith.

Five arrests have been made as additional police officers were drafted in from throughout the North East Division – the result of further intelligence received on the activities of criminals with links to Merseyside.

Around 25 police officers from Elgin, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen took part in the early morning raids that included properties in Cockmuir Place, Murdoch’s Wynd and Robertson Drive in Elgin and Langstane Lane in Keith.

Two women, both aged 25, were arrested alongside three men whose ages were given as 36, 40 and 45.

Moray area commander Chief Inspector Stewart Mackie said: “Since the start of the year Operation Wittet has really focused on making Moray a hostile environment for the supply of controlled drugs. We have had quite a lot of success in being proactive in the area.

“Some of the ones targeted are based in Merseyside – although they can be found in other areas in the north-west of England. They are only here to make money and exploit vulnerable people.”
