POLICE HAVE INDICATED that they believe there to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a young man in Elgin on Monday.

In a brief statement released today, investigating officers say that a report of sudden death in the Thornhill Road area has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Graeme Allan said: “Inquiries into this incident are ongoing, however early indications suggest that there are no suspicious circumstances.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public at any stage.”

Inspector Allan paid tribute to the patience of local residents, adding: “I would like to thank those who live in the area for their patience while the incident was dealt with overnight. I would also like to thank them for their assistance and information provided.

“As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The alarm was raised at 9pm on Monday when the body of young man was found close to the Scotmid store in the area.
