
DISTURBANCES IN KEITH over the weekend has resulted in six men aged between 26 and 32 appearing at Elgin Sheriff Court today.
The six were detained in connection with a number of alleged disturbances on Saturday taking place in Mid Street at around 4.45pm in which a man was assaulted, and later in the area of the Commercial Hotel and Cameron Drive/Hay Crescent areas of the town.
Buckie/Keith local policing team member Sergeant Teresa said: “Local officers with assistance from the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit made extensive enquiries over the weekend and, as a result, six men are expected to appear in court today [Monday].
“Our enquiries are still ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed these alleged incidents or has information about them to contact Police via the 101 telephone number or if they wish to remain anonymous to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. I would like to thank the public of Keith for their assistance so far.
“Police Scotland is committed to tackling violent behaviour that causes alarm in our communities and it is only with the help and cooperation of local residents that we can do so.”
