PLANS FOR IMPROVEMENTS to a Moray harbour will be discussed with members of the local community at a special meeting later this month.

Moray Council have scheduled the consultation meeting at Findochty on October 15, allowing locals to have their say on plans to develop pontoon facilities at their harbour.

A funding bid will be lodged with the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) for the long awaited improvement project – but before that is submitted the views of the local community are being sought.

Moray Council say that £107,000 has been earmarked to help with the overall cost of the project with further funding coming from other sources including the EFF.

Moray Council’s harbours manager, Duncan Brown, said: “The timescale is tight in relation to submitting the funding bid to the EFF and we want to get input from harbour users and local people prior to the detailed application being made.”

The harbours team have committed to designing the new pontoon system in conjunction with the harbour users and community of Findochty.

People are being invited to share their own ideas during the event which will run from 10am to 12 noon at two venues in Findochty – the Howf at the harbour and at the village hall.
