A MORAY COMMUNITY COUNCIL has set a new standard for others to follow after extensive reorganisation has seen it allocate individual community responsibilities to all its members.

All too often the lowest tier in local civic responsibility has not been taken particularly seriously – but now Forres Community Council is aiming to change that perception.

This week the CC chairman, Stewart Noble, revealed that two new members had been recruited – taking their numbers to the maximum of 12, and each with a key role to undertake in representing their local community.

Joining are Shaun Moat who will be the main contact for Education and Twinning Links, while Ken Shand has been brought on board and will deal with CC issues for Health, Veterans and Disability.

They join ten existing councillors who will meet at the Tolbooth on the third Thursday of each month at 7.15pm – with the public welcome to attend as observers.

The full list of community councillors in Forres has also been published with their duties and contact numbers (see chart below).
