MORAY COASTAL COMMUNITIES and those around Keith are being invited to learn about a £1million community fund at a special gathering in Buckie this week.
Plans are now well advanced in the creation of one of the largest ever offshore wind farms within sight of the Moray coastline.
Attached to the establishment of the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm is a ‘Moray Partnership Fund’ that will be worth £1million to successful community applicants over the next five years.
Community fund manager Marianne Townsley said: “Applications to the fund from communities on the Moray coast and in the areas of Buckie and Lennox, Strathisla and Keith will be welcome.”
The fund is to be launched on Thursday, December 15 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the North Parish Church Hall in Buckie, when representatives from groups are being invited to discuss with the fund how their plans might benefit.
One group who will be represented is the Lossiemouth Community Development Trust, for whom a spokesman said: “This is one of a number of funding sources that could well provide the backing we require for our regeneration plans at Station Park.
“We are currently in discussions with Moray Council over the future of the park with a view to the Trust taking control – we see the Moray Partnership Fund as being a match for our plans and will certainly wish to discuss this with them.”
Any community groups who cannot make it to Thursday’s meeting can find out more about the fund from Marianne Townsley by Email to marianne.townsley@sse.com.
