Appeal after tools are stolen from site in New Elgin

Raid resulted in builders tools being stolen in Elgin.

A LOCAL BUSINESSES in Elgin was counting the cost after raiders used crowbars to force their way into their store.

Building tools were taken from the Elgin Marble Company premises owned by J R Henderson and Sons on Tuesday.  It is believed the incident happened between staff leaving at 5pm and 7.45am the following morning, Wednesday, January 11.

The stolen items, a bag of power tools, are valued at almost £1000 with director Paul Henderson saying: “It looks like they were just interested in one thing and left as soon as they got it – it looked like they tried one area of the building but then moved and kept trying until until they forced their way in.”

Police are asking any with information or who may have been offered tools in the last few days to contact them.

A spokesman said: “We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around the time concerned to contact us on 101.”
