A SERIES OF EVENTS has been organised this month aimed at members of Moray communities who are living with dementia.
Organised by the Community Activities Organiser for Alzheimer Scotland in Moray, Sharon Finlay, events will be held in various locations in Lossiemouth, Forres, Elgin and Buckie.
Starting today in Forres, where the local Bowling Club on St Catherine’s Road will host a ‘Hae a News’ Café at 10.30am, each event provides an opportunity for people to attend individually or with a companion.
Sharon explained: “Our community groups are there to be enjoyed by anyone living with dementia or experiencing difficulties with their memory, including their family and friends.
“All are welcome – people who can attend independently and/or for those unable to do so should come with a companion who can provide any support for them. We don’t provide transport for these groups and therefore it is your responsibility to get to and from this community activity, safely.”
Tomorrow (Wednesday) there will be a ‘Happy Hikers Group’ gathering outside the Elgin Library at 12noon, while Thursday (March 9) is the turn of Lossiemouth Baptist Church to host a ‘Hae a News’ Café from 10.30am.
On the same day there will be another Happy Hikers group leaving Elgin Library at 2pm, while the next event is on Wednesday, March 15 when some ‘Musical Memories’ will be played out at the New Elgin and Ashgrove Hall on Land Street from 1.30pm.
Thursday 16 will see Buckie’s ‘Hae a News’ Café in the supper room at the Fisherman’s Hall from 10.30am, while on Tuesday, March 21 it is the turn of ‘Knit and Natter’ in the activities room of Elgin Library at 10.30am.
Happy Hikers embark again from the Elgin Library at 2pm on Wednesday, March 22 before the final event for this month, Musical Memories, will again play at the New Elgin & Ashgrove Hall on Wednesday, March 29 from 1.30pm.
