Investigation into ‘unexplained’ death of Elgin woman

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched by police in Elgin over the ‘unexplained’ death of a woman at a home on Waulkmill Grove.

Police say that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the 46-year-old, who has been named locally as bookmaker’s assistant Alison Wood.

Mrs Wood was found at around 7.30am on Saturday morning and since then police have maintained a constant presence as their investigations continued.

However, a Police Scotland spokeswoman said last night that they had found no apparent suspicious circumstances, although Mrs Wood’s death remained unexplained. She said: “Police were called in relation to the sudden death of a 46-year-old woman in the Waulkmill Grove area of Elgin at 7.30am on Saturday.

“The death is being treated as unexplained – but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. As is standard a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Local residents have indicated that Mrs Wood had worked for Ladbrokes Bookmakers in Elgin before moving to their Lossiemouth shop.
