A FREE NIGHT at the races is being offered in Elgin next month – with all proceeds on the night going towards Eileidh’s Bucket List.
Eileidh’s battle against the childhood cancer neuroblastoma is one that has touched the hearts of everyone in her native Forres and beyond.
The five-year-old appeared to be winning the fight – only for her family to receive the devastating news that the cancer was back, with her doctors saying that even if the tumours they are currently battling are reduced or even removed, they will return quickly and aggressively.
Determined to make her daughter’s remaining time as happy as possible, Eileidh’s mum Gail launched ‘Eleidh’s Bucket List’, an appeal that hopes to raise at least £10,000 which would then be used to fund a number of activities for the youngster – including a visit to her beloved Disney characters.
Now one of the North of Scotland’s leading entertainment agencies, XS Promotions, has arranged a gala Race Night to help the funding bid. That will be held on Saturday, April 15 at the Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin.
A spokesman said: “We only learned about Eileidh relatively recently – but once we became aware of her story it was very hard not to be affected and impossible not to wish to do something more than just making a donation.
“Anyone with kids of their own will know that it hits a nerve knowing that it could easily be your child that is fighting such a horrible illness.
“So we are putting together the Race Night with all proceeds going to Eileidh’s appeal – entrance is free and every penny raised on the night will be passed on to Gail Paterson.”
