Moray Chamber invite charity bids for annual awards dinner

THE MORAY CHAMBER of Commerce have opened applications for local charities wishing to become their supported organisation at their largest event of the year.

On September 1 the Alexander Graham Bell Centre will host the Chamber’s annual business awards dinner.

Each year, a local charity is selected by the Chamber to benefit from events on the night that have in the past raised as much as £3000 for the selected organisation.

The dinner setting allows Moray Chamber to support and create opportunities for the Business, Hospitality and Tourism students of Moray College UHI, who will not only be serving the dinner, but their professional team of chefs will also be cooking from a selection of the finest local produce.

The chamber hopes that the support and donation that it can offer to the chosen charity can also create opportunities for those benefitting from the charity and also raise awareness for their cause.

In 2016 it was North East Sensory Services (NESS) who were supported, with a spokesman for their fundraising team saying: “NESS were delighted to be associated with the 2016 Moray Chamber Awards Dinner and the £3000 we received from the evening, went a long way to help us maintain our charitable services in the region.

“Also the exposure we gained by being able to promote our services to the wider business community on the night has led to longer termed partnerships and a wider understanding of our work among the business sector.”

The chosen charity must operate within Moray and demonstrate how their work benefits the communities within the area. The charity’s spokesperson will have the opportunity to speak at the Awards dinner, broadcasting their message and cause to 280 key local business people.

Applications are open across Moray, including to non-chamber members. Groups can request an application form from gdunk@moraychamber.co.uk or head to our website www.moraychamber.co.uk. Closing date for submitting applications is June 25.

Further announcements regarding the dinner and the awards will be announced in June – however, sponsorship opportunities for the event, raffle and auction prizes are already being received.
