MSP’s office passes muster for disabled access

DISABLED VISITORS TO regional MSP Douglas Ross’ Forres HQ should find access a great deal easier according to the national disability guide.

The producers of the guide have given the MSP’s premises a thumbs up as suitable for those with disabilities to both visit and in which to work.

Ryan MacDonald from Euan’s Guide was in Forres at the weekend checking out local shops and offices to see if they were disabled-friendly. The visit was arranged by Ray Macdonald from Rays Opportunities, who champions access for all in the town.

Ray and Ryan stopped in at the Parliamentary Office on Forres High Street to see if it is wheelchair friendly. With plenty of space, a meeting room with plenty of provision and even a kitchen suitable for wheelchair height, the pair were pleased with what they say.

Commenting after the visit to his office, Mr Ross said: “When I heard Euan’s Guide was going to be in the town on Saturday I was keen that they could assess the Parliamentary Office and arranged for them to check out our office and I am delighted they were happy with what they found.

“We want people in Moray to know that we welcome everyone into the office and have made provision for them, including enabling disabled access to our meeting room to ensure their privacy when coming to talk about issues of concern.”

The office was presented with a Euan’s Guide card to display on the door, to show that it is suitable for disabled users.
