Witnesses sought to assault on woman in an Elgin park

WITNESSES ARE BEING SOUGHT to an alleged assault of a 28-year-old woman close to the lawn bowls club in Elgin’s Cooper Park.

Police say the incident was reported to have taken place around 2.30 and 3.30am on Sunday, May 28.

They are keen to trace four men who were in the area at the time as they may be able to assist with enquiries. In addition, officers wish to speak to a man who would have been walking a dog in the vicinity at the time, and two men who would have approached and spoken to the woman as she left the area in a distressed state.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Kerry Rigg said: “While the woman was not injured this incident would have been frightening and has naturally left her extremely upset.

“I would urge anyone with information, or anyone that was in the area at the time and witnessed anything unusual to contact police quoting incident 4097 of 28 May.

“Anyone who may have seen persons acting suspiciously in this area around the time of the incident, or anyone with any information relating to this crime is asked to contact Police via the non-emergency number, 101, or if they wish to remain anonymous, via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
