A CONSULTANT ANAESTHETIS at Elgin’s Dr Gray’s is set to don his running shoes to help celebrate the Hospital’s 200th anniversary with a fund-raising half marathon.
Dr Andrej Andrasovsky is to join his wife Lorna on the night trial half marathon ‘The Illuminator Run’ in Glen Tanar in October.
Their effort is the start of a campaign that it is hoped will raise £1million for the Grampian Health Board’s Endowment Fund.
On his crowdfunding page Dr Andrasovsky said: “Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin is going to celebrate next year the anniversary of 200 years – and like many times in the past it needs your generous help.
“We are starting this national fundraising campaign in order to help our maternity and neonatal unit for the benefit of all the people of Moray. We are most grateful for your charitable support, all your donations and for wholeheartedly supporting Dr Gray’s Hospital.”
Appealing for others to join them on the run, Dr Andrasovsky added: “We want to raise awareness and help our local hospital to be able to serve all of us for the next 200 years. Also if you feel up to it you can join our team of Dr Gray’s Runners for the Illuminator Run on 28 October 2017.”
The Grampian Health Board Endowment Fund has over 1100 funds for the benefit of patients and staff in the Grampian area.
Each hospital, ward, department and speciality has its own individual fund and provides enhanced patient care together with extra facilities and opportunities not available from government funding.
