‘No Crime’ conclusion from police investigating alleged assault

AN INVESTIGATION INTO alleged assault of a woman in Elgin’s Cooper Park has concluded that no crime was committed.

Police had appealed for witnesses to the incident involving a 28-year-old woman close to the lawn bowls club in the park in the early hours of Sunday, May 28.

It was reported at the time that while not injured the woman had undergone a frightening experience and was “extremely upset”.

However, today Police Scotland confirmed that they had sought to speak to four men but concluded that no crime had been committed

Detective Inspector Alan Armit concluded: “We take all reports of crime made to us seriously and they will be fully investigated. Following our enquiries, we are satisfied that the crime did not occur.”
