MP makes himself available in 45-venue Moray surgery tour

MEETING WITH LOCAL people is one of the most important aspects of the job for Moray’s MP Douglas Ross – and that is why he is looking forward to holding 45 surgeries throughout the constituency this month.

The MP will take on his first summer tour that will see him available at various village halls and venues in Moray from Monday, August 7 until Friday, August 11.

His surgeries provide an opportunity for people to raise local or national issues of concern – no appointments are necessary.

Mr Ross said: “I feel it is important to get out and meet with people who may have issues they wish to raise with me.

“While I try to be as open and accessible as possible from my constituency office in Forres, hiring a hall in the heart of a village or community hopefully makes it easier for local people to meet and engage with their Member of Parliament.

“This tour sees me heading to many different communities through the week to minimise the amount of travel people have to undertake to see me. I hope that with so many venues in the week-long tour there is one close to people who wish to raise an issue with me.

“Although it is going to be a busy week with 45 different locations for the surgeries, I am very much looking forward to it. It will be great to get out and about and meet local people and of course try to assist with any problems or issues they have.

“The first couple of months as the area’s MP have been a bit of a whirlwind, but I’m really enjoying it and feel proud to be able to represent our area. I hope that people can make it along to the surgeries. I am the Member of Parliament for the whole of Moray, which means I’m here for everyone in the constituency whether they voted for me or not.”
