Quick sell-out for glittering Moray business event of the year

MORAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE is preparing for its main event of the year in just a few weeks – its Annual Awards Dinner.

The black-tie event is being held at the Alexander Graham Bell Centre with the keynote speech delivered by an active serviceman who will speak on mental health and overcoming adversity in the workplace.

It will be the 14th successive year the event has been held – with the reputation of the event such that tables sold in record time. A Moray Chamber spokeswoman said: “For many the dinner has become an institution and their continued support assists this fantastic celebration of the successes of businesses around them.

“Similarly, the sponsorship, both financial and in kind, of some newer supporters of the dinner also allows the chamber to grow this prestigious event.

“This year the Main Business Award and the Export Award will be kindly sponsored by Moray Council/Business Gateway and Walkers Shortbread respectively. Alongside the awards sponsors, the dinner is made possible by the generous support of such as Johnstons of Elgin, Robertson, Ritsons, Diageo, Christies of Fochabers and Forsyths Ltd.

“In addition to this, key businesses from the area have donated unique auction prizes to raise funds essential to the Chambers’ existence. Being a self-sustained organisation, Moray Chamber of Commerce is very grateful for the advocacy of these businesses, as they are the main facilitators of the event.”

Proceeds from the event this year will be donated to Moray Women’s Aid, while the dinner is being prepared and served by Moray College UHI students from the Hospitality and Tourism Academy. Entertainment at the dinner is being provided by the Lossiemouth Entertainment Academy.

The spokeswoman added: “Hosting events like this to celebrate local business could not be done without the strong and versatile membership base that exists in Moray.

“We cannot extend our gratitude far enough for the generosity and participation that we receive from our members year on year.”

For those unable to attend this year’s Annual Awards Dinner, the next Awards Ceremony will be held on November 15, the Annual Awards Lunch, where more celebratory awards will be given.
