DESPITE BEING MADE famous in this country via the movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Evita’, the Argentinian Tango has not enjoyed a particularly high following in Moray.
Nor has the dance appearing several times on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing led to an obvious surge of participation in our region.
That could, perhaps, be about to change with a group that exists purely to practice this particular dance art putting on a special session later this week.
Argentine Tango Highland will be at the Findhorn and Kinloss Parish Church on Friday where they will provide a free ‘taster’ session in the dance style from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. That will be followed from 7.30pm until 8.30pm by a ‘Technique and Connection’ session.
A spokeswoman for the event said: “This gives people in Moray a unique opportunity to try out this intriguing dance with experienced teachers Patricia and Billy. Tango is a wonderful social dance based on connection through the embrace. No partner is required for these sessions.”
