Time for at-risk groups in Moray to book their Flu vaccinations

Flu vaccination time has arrived in Moray.

THE FINE WEATHER enjoyed by most in Moray yesterday might not have suggested it – but preparations are well under way for winter!

Or at least they are at Elgin’s Linkwood Medical Centre who are now advising eligible patients that annual Flu Vaccinations will be made available from Monday, October 2.

Office manager at the centre is Sarah Corkish, who told insideMoray: “The vaccinations are of course of vital importance for those in the high-risk groups.

“That includes anyone over the age of 65, those who have health conditions such as diabetes, pregnant women and people who work in healthcare.

“Over the last ten years, the flu vaccine has generally been a good match for the circulating strains of flu – so you can be confident being vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself against a virus which can cause serious illness.

“Even when it is not as well matched, if you do develop flu, symptoms may be less severe and you may be less likely to develop complications requiring you to see your GP or being admitted to hospital.”

Those who are in an at-risk group are being asked to contact the surgery to arrange appointments.

Arrangements are also being made at all surgeries throughout Moray – please contact your local surgery for details.
