AN ALERT HAS BEEN ISSUED for high winds in Moray today – the Met Office advising extreme care by those planning to travel.
The alert applies throughout the north and north east with power supplies possibly disrupted and travel delays likely, according to the Met Office.
“Strong west or north-west winds are likely to affect northern areas of the UK throughout the day, with some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport likely,” a Met Office spokesman said at the weekend.
The warning adds: “Some bus and train journeys may be affected with journey’s taking longer than usual – short-term disruption to power supplies are also possible. It is going to be a windy week – today we expect gusts of up to 60mph in parts of the north.
“It will become less windy on Tuesday and Wednesday but there will still be frequent rain showers.”
However, in a very mixed picture for the week forecasters also say that there will be some bright and dry spells as a low pressure clears away towards the end of this week.
