COMMUNITY GROUPS IN BUCKIE are being urged to grasp an opportunity to gain a share in a £20,000 funding pot.
The funding is aimed at support groups of all sizes and is being made available through ‘Bucks4Buckie – Real Money, Real People, Real Power’ – a scheme managed by the Buckie Area Forum’s regeneration group.
Participatory Funding will ensure that local residents will get the final say as to where the cash should go, with Regeneration Group chairman, Gordon McDonald, saying that a varying level of grants are on offer.
He said: “This project will culminate in a public event in Buckie, where those in attendance will vote on which applications should receive a share of £20,000. Any local community, voluntary, or non-profit organisation can apply for funding from £200 to £2000, by completing a short application form – but only groups in the town of Buckie are eligible.”
The initiative is being administered by Buckie Area Forum, which consists of a volunteer representative of community groups supported by Moray Council’s Community Support Unit.
To be eligible for a chance of funding from the scheme a project should provide economic benefit for as many people as possible from across the community, or help to make Buckie a better place for everyone.
It can be a large or small project which benefits the local economy – this could include starting a childcare club in a local hall, provision of story-telling boards for local walks, a community café or bus club. If it brings some economic development to your area the only limit is your imagination.
Informal groups do not need to have a constitution or a bank account but will require the support of a constituted local group or organisation prepared to accept monies on your behalf. Bucks4Buckie will launched on Monday, November 13 with the deadline for applications being Wednesday, January 31.
