MARINE PROJECTS IN MORAY can still claim a share of a £600,000 pot available for marine projects shared between Moray and the Highlands.
The Highlands and Moray Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) is the controlling authority for the funding from the European Maritime & Fisheries Fund.
Eligible projects for the funding would include aquaculture, maritime-based tourism and the seafood sector.
Projects have already been committed from the fund to the tune of £338,000 – with project approved to 58°N Scottish Seaweed to research the viability of growing seaweed for commercial use.
The cash is designed to support projects that encourage community-led local development and localised decision making though Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs). It is open to sole traders, SMEs, community groups, harbour authorities and Fishermen’s Associations located within Moray and Highland coastal communities.
